Valeda® is the first FDA authorised treatment for dry AMD that utilizes Photobiomodulation (PBM).

This innovative medical technology uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular function and improve energy production within the cells of the eye. By targeting the cells in the retina that are damaged by AMD, Valeda® helps to restore function, reduce inflammation, and protect against further cellular decay.

  • Non-Invasive & Painless: The treatment involves shining specific wavelengths of light into the eye. There are no lasers, no needles, and no physical contact with the eye itself.
  • Improves Vision: Clinical studies have shown that PBM therapy can improve visual acuity and contrast sensitivity in patients with dry AMD.
  • Slows Disease Progression: By improving cellular health and reducing metabolic stress in the retina, Valeda® can help slow the progression of the disease.
  • Quick & Convenient: A typical treatment session takes less than five minutes per eye, making it easy to fit into your schedule.
  • No Recovery Time: You can return to your normal daily activities immediately after your session.

If our specialists determine that Valeda® PBM is right for you, your treatment plan will typically consist of a series of short sessions.

  • The Schedule: A standard course of treatment involves 9 sessions spread over 3 to 4 weeks.
  • The Procedure: During the session, you will simply sit comfortably in front of the Valeda® machine. The device will deliver controlled pulses of light to your eyes.
  • The Sensation: The process is entirely painless. You will see bright flashes of light, but there is no discomfort.

Valeda® PBM therapy is specifically designed for patients diagnosed with Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration. It is most effective when started in the early to intermediate stages of the disease.

To find out if you are a suitable candidate, our ophthalmology team will need to perform a comprehensive dilated eye examination and assess the current health of your macula.
